About footpath holidays

You will have heard the saying "There is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing" and, as you will know, the weather in Britain can be unpredictable.

To ensure that you get the best from your walking holiday, you should ensure that you are properly equipped.

The following list is a guide to what we consider essential:

Waterproof jacket and overtrousers (raingear)
Boots or strong walking shoes with cleated soles and ankle support
Thick socks for use inside walking boots
Small rucksack/back pack
Comfortable trousers (not denim fabric as this becomes heavy, cold and uncomfortable when wet)
Extra sweater or fleece/pile jacket
Waterbottle and/or flask
Warm hat and gloves
Sun hat and sunscreen

Other items which are not essential, but which you might like to consider:

Shorts
Small foam ‘sit mat’
Trekking poles or walking stick
