Christmas and New Year walking holidays on the West Cornwall Coast
Our Christmas and New Year Walking holidays in Cornwall explore the Land's End peninsula - renowned throughout the world for its spectacular coastline and seascapes, its mysterious moorlands and its ancient standing stones.
Over the Christmas and New Year period, the Atlantic is often at its most dramatic and the tiny coves and fishing villages at their most welcoming. We walk a number of stretches of the wonderful coastline, visiting Land's End, Sennen Cove, Cape Cornwall, Porthgwarra, Porthcurno and Marazion.
We will ensure that one of the walks on each holiday finishes at the pretty fishing village of Mousehole, and we stay until after dark to enjoy the excellent and world-famous display of Christmas lights which festoon the harbour and surrounding hillsides each festive season.
The Christmas walking holiday will commence with dinner on Monday 23rd December and finish after breakfast on Saturday 28th December. The main meal on Christmas Day will be taken at lunchtime, with the opportunity for short local walks both before and after. Although the non-walking highlight of the trip will no doubt be Christmas Day lunch, guests will also be treated to a gourmet candlelit supper on Christmas Eve and a Yuletide buffet supper on Christmas Day.
The New Year walking holiday will commence with pre-dinner drinks on Saturday 28th December and finish after breakfast on Thursday 2nd January. The highlight of the holiday will be a splendid 'gala dinner' on New Year's Eve. On other evenings guests will be able to enjoy some great food, including local produce from the restaurant's Food Heros menu.
We stay at Hotel Penzance in Penzance, which has been our base in the Far West of Cornwall since 2002. Hotel Penzance was named 'Hotel of the Year, 2006' by Cornwall Tourism, whilst their Bay Restaurant, which holds two coveted AA rosettes for the standard of its service and cuisine won the title of 'Restaurant of the Year' for three successive years up to 2008. As guests on previous festive season holidays have discovered, the Christmas lunch and The New Year's Eve dinner are particularly sumptuous affairs!
