New Year walking holiday on the South Devon Coast

The coast of the South Hams of Devon is blessed with more than its share of scenic grandeur and variety. Not only does it possess a rugged coastline with magnificent cliffs and rocky headlands but look inland and you will see a luxuriant patchwork of fields and woodland, valleys and hills, which runs right down to the coast.

We will walk around the magnificent promontories of Bolt Head, Prawle Point, Start Point and Gammon Head; through the idyllic thatched villages of Slapton and Hope Cove; along the beautiful sandy beach at Soar Mill Cove and amid the cheerful bustle of Salcombe, where the white-washed houses and colourful boats give the town a Mediterranean feel. We shall visit the handsome town of Dartmouth, where the historic buildings and alleyways look particularly attractive dressed for the festive season.

The holiday will commence with pre-dinner drinks on Tuesday 28th December and finish after breakfast on Sunday 2nd January. The non-walking highlight of the tour will be a gala dinner on New Year’s Eve.

We base the tour at the Stoke Lodge Hotel, attractively situated in extensive gardens in the beautiful thatched village of Stoke Fleming, two miles to the west of Dartmouth. As well as extremely comfortable accommodation, and a warm welcome from the proprietors, Stoke Lodge offers some great leisure facilities, including a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. The restaurant prides itself on preparing excellent food using the very best of local produce.
