Gower Coast Path

5 days walking, based in Mumbles

Our tour base

The Gower Coast Path is a 46 mile (74km) walk which follows the coast of the Gower Peninsula from Loughor in the north to Mumbles on Swansea Bay in the south.

There is some wonderful scenery on the Gower coast and in 1956 the peninsula became the first area to be designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). In the north the landscape is one of salt marshes and sand dunes, whilst in the south there are rugged limestone cliffs, interspersed with long sandy beaches, hidden coves and grassy ridges.

The wide variety of landscape supports a wealth of flora and fauna and there are three national nature reserves and also numerous Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) in the area. We have kept the walk stages quite short to allow time to observe the abundant birdlife and admire the coastal flowers.

Highlights of the Gower Coast Path will include the views across the Llanrhidian and Landimore Marshes; the dune systems along Whiteford Burrows; the exhilarating walk along the top of Rhossili Down and the expansive view along Rhossili Bay; Worms Head, the most westerly point on the Gower Peninsula; the flowers and insects amongst the dunes in Oxwich Bay; the rugged beauty of Three Cliff Bay; and the lighthouse on Mumbles Head.

The Gower Coast Path holiday will be followed by a walk along the Gower Way which explores the interior of the Gower Peninsula.
