Gower Way

3 days walking, based in Mumbles

Our tour base

The Gower Way is a 35 mile (56km) walk which begins at Worms Head, the most westerly point on the Gower coast, and works its way inland along the spine of the Gower Peninsula to the remote moorland high point of Penlle'r Castell, close to the headwaters of the River Clydach.

The Gower Peninsula was the first area in Britain to be designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Gower is best known for its beautiful coastline, but the interior is spectacular too. The Gower Way explores the ancient lordship of Gower with its bracken-covered ridges, wild moorland, ancient monuments and industrial heritage. There is abundant evidence of Bronze and Iron Age occupation of the area, particularly on Cefn Bryn, the long sandstone ridge which leads inland from Worms Head and provides wonderful views across the coast.

Highlights of the Gower Way will include the exhilarating walk along Cefn Bryn; the picturesque moorland setting of the Lower and Upper Lliw Reservoirs; and the remote conclusion of the walk at Penlle'r Castell, the 13th century stronghold of a marcher lord which stands on the summit of Mynydd-y-Betws.

The Gower Way holiday will be preceded by a walk along the Gower Coast Path which explores the coast of the Gower Peninsula from Loughor in the north to Swansea Bay in the south.
