Isle of Wight Coast Path

7 days walking, based in Shanklin

Our tour base

The Isle of Wight Coast Path is a 68 mile (109km) walk which circumnavigates the entire island. For the most part it stays close to the water exploring the chalk downland, sand dunes, beaches, chines, salt marshes and seafront esplanades on well-made paths and trails.

Islands are special places and the Isle of Wight is no exception. Despite being only 3 miles from the mainland the island has a distinct history and an atmosphere quite different to that on the mainland. On the Isle of Wight Coast Path you are never far from a resort or village, and in every harbour there is a bustle of people working on their boats. Weather permitting, there is always a movement of boats just offshore. Much of the island is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the principal attractions are the rolling downland which ends in sheer chalk cliffs, and the views down from the cliff tops to long sandy beaches.

The principal highlights of the Isle of Wight Coast Path are the views from Tennyson Down, Bembridge Down and Bonchurch Down and the view down onto The Needles from West High Down.
