The 100 mile (161km) Cotswold Way is one of England's best loved National Trails. We walk the route from north to south through a varied landscape of steep escarpments with far-reaching views, grassy plateaux, undulating pasture and wooded valleys. We will start in Chipping Campden, the 'Jewel of the Cotswolds' and finish in the beautiful World Heritage city of Bath.

The route is particularly renown for the wonderful viewpoints along the escarpment, including Dover's Hill, Shenbarrow Hill, Crickley Hill, Cleeve Hill, Leckhampton Hill, Haresfield Beacon, Painswick Beacon, Stinchcombe Hill and Lansdown Hill.

The 'crowning glory' of the Cotswolds are the distinctively picturesque villages, typified by churches, manor houses, cottages and tithe barns all constructed from beautiful, mellow, honey-coloured stone. The same honey-coloured stone has been used to construct the myriad network of dry stone walls which criss-cross the landscape. Villages which lie on the route of the Cotswold Way include Broadway, Stanton, Stanway, Winchcombe, Painswick and Hawkesbury Upton.

Other highlights of the holiday include the serene ruins of Hailes Abbey, the Neolithic chambered tomb at Belas Knap which dates back to 3,000BC, Nympsfield long barrow, the Iron Age hillfort of Uley Bury, the ornately decorated Jacobean gatehouse of Stanway House, and the church and churchyard in Painswick, our base for this holiday.
