North
Cornwall guided walking holidays:
North Cornwall’s magnificently rugged coastline, which provides an exilerating destination for a guided walking holiday, has long been an inspiration to poets, artists and romantics - steeped as it is in a proud Celtic history.

Myths and legends of King Arthur and other heroes abound along this fascinating coast and these, allied to the folklore of the two traditional industries, seafaring and tin mining, have led the Cornish people to develop a fiercely independent spirit. To quote George Borrow, “To fully appreciate Cornwall, one has to walk through it”.
The Atlantic Ocean provides an awesome and ever changing backdrop to the rugged clifftops, which are covered with an abundance of wild flowers. The spectacular rocky promontories are interspersed with idyllic sandy coves and picturesque fishing villages snuggling in inlets, protected from the sea.
We will walk some magnificent stretches of the Coast Path, including those around Port Isaac with its jumble of fishermans’ cottages, Tintagel with its castle perched on the clifftop, Boscastle with its narrow fjord-like harbour, steep-sided Crackington Haven and sweeping Widemouth Bay.
This stretch of coast provided the inspiration for Thomas Hardy’s novel ‘A Pair of Blue Eyes’, and between Boscastle and Crackington Haven we will walk across the top of Beeny Cliff, where the author courted his first wife, Emma.
From our hotel in the pretty Lanteglos Valley we will also take the opportunity to explore mysterious Bodmin Moor, where Roughtor and Brown Willy make up a splendid rugged skyline and a wealth of ancient standing stones lie scattered across a landscape which inspired Daphne Du Maurier to write ‘Jamaica Inn’.
We stay at Lanteglos Country House Hotel [ETC***] set in a very attractive valley inland from Port Isaac Bay, and close to Bodmin Moor. The hotel, formerly a Pugin-designed vicarage, offers comfortable accommodation, excellent food and a warm welcome. All bedrooms have ensuite facilities.
