1066 Country Walk
Rye, our base for the 1066 Country Walk, was once a member of the Cinque Ports. Nowadays this historic town stands some two miles from the sea but the formidable fortifications, and many of the buildings and street names, serve as a reminder of its maritime past. The streets of Rye and full of fine half-timbered Tudor houses and Georgian town houses. Rye has a good range of shops, and plenty of restaurants and pubs offering food in the evenings.
The daily meeting point in Rye is outside the Tourist Information Centre on Strand Quay.
