Brontë Way

4 days walking, based at Haworth

Our tour base

The Brontë Way is an excellent 45 mile (73km) circular route which links a number of locations associated with the lives and literary works of the celebrated Brontë family and traces a route through the heart of the Pennines from Oakwell Hall in Yorkshire to Gawthorpe Hall, near Padiham, in Lancashire.

The Brontë Way encounters a variety of terrain, from canal towpath to the windswept moorland of the Pennine watershed and from historic field paths to wooded valleys. Highpoints of the route will include Top Withins (Wuthering Heights), Ponden Hall (Thrushcross Grange), Oxenhope and the summit of Boulsworth Hill with its fine views of the surrounding countryside.

The Brontë Way will delight not only Brontë enthusiasts but also those with only a passing interest in the literary connections of the route. Haworth, home to the Brontë family, provides a fitting base for the tour.
