Great Walks in the Cotswolds
Chipping Campden, our base for ‘Great Walks in the Cotswolds’, is known ‘the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’ and grew propserous on the proceeds of the medieval wool trade. The town is built of the honey-coloured stone for which the area is so famous and has one of the most complete and unspoilt Medieval high streets in Europe. Some of the most notable buildings are the market hall, the almshouses, the Woolstaplers’ Hall, and Grevel’s House.
During the 19th century Chipping Campden was at the forefront of the Arts and Crafts Movement and there are still many individual shops, galleries and workshops in the town. Chipping Campden has a wide variety of independent shops, and plenty of hotels and pubs serving food in the evening.
The daily meeting point in Chipping Campden is outside the Tourist Information Centre in the High Street.
