Great Walks in Central Lakeland

Tour details

Grasmere, our base for ‘Great Walks in Central Lakeland’, is one of the most picturesque village in the Lake District National Park. The village stands on the shore of Grasmere Water, surrounded by high fells and wonderful scenery. The village is famous as the home of the 18th century poet, William Wordsworth. William Wordsworth lived at Dove Cottage (and later at nearby Rydal Mount) and is buried in the churchyard at Grasmere. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants which serve food in the evenings.

The daily meeting point in Gramere is outside the Heaton Cooper Gallery, opposite the green in the centre of the village.
