Mendip Way
5 days walking, based in Wells
Wells, our base for the Mendip Way, is England's smallest city. Wells is dominated by its magnificent cathedral and the city is steeped in ecclesiastical history. As well as the cathedral itself there is a splendid medieval Bishop's Palace and Gardens, the Wells and Mendip Museum, and the Vicars' Close, a beautifully preserved street of houses that dates back to the 14th century. Wells has a good variety of independent shops, and plenty of hotels, restaurants and pubs serving food in the evening.
The daily meeting point in Wells is outside the Tourist Information Centre.
