Offas Dyke Path, North - Llangollen
Llangollen, our base for the northern section of the Offas Dyke Path, is an interesting and historic town set in the beautiful Clwydian Hills near the border between England and Wales. There is a fine stone bridge across the River Dee, built in 1345 and known as one of the Seven Wonders of Wales. The town is overlooked by the ruins of the 8th century Castell Dinas Bran, and other attractions include Plas Newydd, an attractive 18th century timbered house which was home to the Ladies of Llangollen who entertained many famous names during the late 1700s and early 1800s. Llangollen is home to the International Eistedfodd, a music festival which attracts thousands of competitors and visitors every July.
The daily meeting point in Llangollen is outside the Tourist Information Centre which is in the Town Hall.
