Reivers’ Way, South - Wooler

Tour Details

Wooler our base for the northern section of the Reivers' Way, is known as the 'Gateway to the Cheviot Hills'. It is located on the north eastern edge of the Northumberland National Park, 15 miles inland from the North Northumberland Heritage Coast, and 16 miles south of Berwick on Tweed. Wooler is a thriving market town with a good variety of independent shops, and there are hotels, restaurants and pubs offering meals in the evening. There is a Youth Hostel in Wooler.

The daily meeting point in Wooler will be the entrance to the bus station which is on the High Street.

How to reach Wooler by public transport

The nearest railway stations is at Berwick-upon-Tweed (16 miles to the north). National Express run a frequent service to Newcastle and a more limited service to Berwick-upon-Tweed. There is a regular public bus service between Berwick railway station and Wooler, with a journey time of 52 minutes. Times for these local buses can be obtained from Wooler Tourist Information Centre, or from the Northumberland County Council website.
