St Cuthbert's Way
6 days walking, based at Jedburgh
Jedburgh, our base for St Cuthbert's Way, is a fine old Scottish border town and a scene of many confrontations during the wars between the English and the Scots. It is dominated by the massive abbey built by King David in 1118; now in ruins but still one of the finest mediaeval buildings in Scotland. The site of the castle, burned to the ground in 1409, is occupied by the former County Prison, which now houses a museum. Other places of interest include the house where Mary Queen of Scots resided during her time in Jedburgh. Jedburgh has a good range of shops, restaurants and pubs offering food in the evening.
The daily meeting point in Jedburgh is outside the Tourist Information Centre (front entrance) on Murray's Green.
