Stour Valley Way

6 days walking, based in Blandford Forum

Our tour base

The Stour Valley Way explores the secrets to be found along the length of Dorset's finest river, from its mouth at Mudeford Spit near Christchurch to its source just over the border in Wiltshire. In its early stages the Path offers far-reaching views across Poole Harbour to the Purbeck Hills, whilst in its middle stages the route takes in an impressive rolling landscape of chalk downland, ancient burial mounds and Iron Age fortifications as it crosses Cranborne Chase. The walk terminates at the river's source in the verdant combe of Six Wells Bottom, close to Stourhead House and Gardens. The stages are designed to allow a relaxed pace of walking throughout.
