Yorkshire Wolds Way - Malton
Malton, our base for the Wolds Way, was once the site of a strategically important Roman fort which grew up at a crossing point on the River Derwent. Today Malton is home to one of the largest livestock markets in the north of England. Modern Malton has spread to both sides of the river and now incorporates the town of Norton-on-Derwent.
Malton has a wide range of shops, restaurants, and pubs which serve bar meals.
The daily meeting point in Malton is outside the Tourist Information Centre in the Market Place.
