The charms of the Cotswolds need little introduction as the area is world famous - and justifiably so. The landscape is a wonderful mix of long ridges with far reaching views, fields criss-crossed by drystone walls, scattered woodland and gentle valleys, trout streams, meadows filled with wild flowers, and, of course, quintessentially attractive villages, churches, and manor houses, all constructed from the local honey-coloured stone. The Cotswolds fulfils most people’s idea of a ‘typical’ English landscape.
Both the five and seven night itineraries have been designed to show the very best of the area without the need to follow a continuous route. Guests on both tours will visit the mellow villages of Broadway, Stanton, Stanway, Snowshill and the Slaughters; walk beside the charming little rivers Windrush and Ey; visit Chipping Campden - the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’, to enjoy one of Europe’s most complete and unspoilt Mediaeval high streets; and climb above the villages to enjoy the extensive views from Dover’s Hill and Broadway Hill.
For your holiday in the Cotswolds you can choose a comfortable family-run guest house in the handsome and historic town of Chipping Campden. Your room will have ensuite facilities (private bathroom) and you will have a choice of continental or full English breakfast. Chipping Campden has wide range of restaurants, tearooms and inns.
We stay at the Three Ways House Hotel [ETC/AA***], a handsome old building situated in the village of Mickleton just outside the attractive town of Chipping Campden. The hotel which provides a very high standard of comfort and service, was named 'Best Small Hotel of the Year' in the 2006/2007 South West of England Excellence in Tourism Awards. It also holds a 'Silver' award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme. The dining room, which specialises in using quality local produce, holds an AA rosette. All bedrooms have ensuite facilities.
Three Ways House is the home of the famous ‘Pudding Club’, an organisation dedicated to the survival of the traditional steamed pudding. Even if your visit to Three Ways House doesn’t coincide with one of the club’s twice monthly meetings you will still be able to enjoy home-made Spotted Dick, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Lord Randall’s Pudding or Sussex Pond Pudding (to name just a few), safe in the knowledge that your indulgence has helped to perpetuate a great British tradition!
