North
Cornwall self guided walking holidays: King Arthur’s Country
North Cornwall has one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline to be found anywhere, and throughout spring and summer wild flowers sprawl across the cliff tops, stone walls and dunes. The Atlantic Ocean provides an awesome and ever changing backdrop to the rugged clifftops; spectacular rocky promontories are interspersed with idyllic sandy coves and picturesque fishing villages; and inland from the coast lies mysterious Bodmin Moor, where Roughtor and Brown Willy make up a splendid rugged skyline and a wealth of ancient standing stones lie scattered across a landscape which inspired Daphne Du Maurier to write ‘Jamaica Inn’.

Guests on all tours will be able to sample the splendour of Cornwall’s wild and rugged Atlantic coast with its numerous magnificent headlands, most notably Pentire which provides one of the finest views in Cornwall; the charm of Port Isaac with its jumble of fishermans’ cottages, the incomparable setting of Tintagel Castle perched on the clifftop, Boscastle with its narrow fjord-like harbour, and the peaceful isolation of The Rumps where John Binyon sat to write his ‘Ode to the Fallen’, now an integral part of our Remembrance Day services. Both grades of tour will also feature an atmospheric walk on the edge of Bodmin Moor where Bronze Age field systems date back to 4,000BC.
