Walking holidays singles - Footpath Holidays a Family Company was founded in 1983 and is now in its 25th year of operation. It is owned and managed by Suzanne and Ian Newman from their home in rural Wiltshire, where they live with their twin teenage daughters. For those of you who have been on a Footpath Holiday before the arrangements will need little introduction. For those of you joining one of our holidays for the first time we hope our web site will answer most of your questions. Every year Footpath Holidays organises tailor-made tours for clubs, groups, specialist agents and colleges. In the past these have ranged from club weekends on Dartmoor or in the Cotswolds to overseas hiking clubs wishing to spend a week or two in, for example, Cornwall, the Lake District, Exmoor, the Isle of Skye, or walking Wainwright's Coast to Coast. These longer tours often include an element of sightseeing, and ‘themed' tours (‘Architecture and Gardens', ‘Lakeland Poets', ‘Celtic History and Landscapes', to name but a few) can be arranged.
We are happy to organise walking/hiking tours of any length and we are not restricted to the areas which appear in this brochure. We always welcome the opportunity to quote for tailor-made packages of any grade, in any of Britain's walking areas. Click here - enter home page
Our prices are based on guests sharing a twin or double-bedded room, however, we do appreciate that the majority of guests travelling alone prefer their own room, so we do try to obtain as many single occupancies as possible. When the room is a genuine ‘single' we do not charge a supplement. Single occupancy of a double room does attract a supplement, which we try to keep to a minimum.
What equipment and clothing should I bring?
As you will know, the weather in Britain is unpredictable. To ensure that you get the best from your walking holiday, you should ensure that you are properly equipped.
The following list is a guide to what we consider essential:
- Waterproof jacket and overtrousers (raingear)
- Boots or strong walking shoes with cleated soles and ankle support
- Thick socks for use inside walking boots
- Small rucksack/back pack
- Comfortable trousers (not denim fabric as this becomes heavy, cold and uncomfortable when wet)
- Extra sweater or fleece/pile jacket
- Waterbottle and/or flask
- Warm hat and gloves
- Sun hat and sunscreen
