Walking holidays Yorkshire - Footpath was founded in 1983 and is now in its 25th year of operation. It is owned and managed by Suzanne and Ian Newman from their home in rural Wiltshire, where they live with their twin teenage daughters. Suzanne has walked and mountaineered throughout Britain, as well as the Alps and Pyrenees. Ian gained his mountain leadership certificate in 1987 and has walked and mountaineered extensively in Britain and worldwide.

When you contact our office you will always be speaking to someone directly involved in planning and leading walks.

For those of you who have been on a Footpath Holiday before the arrangements will need little introduction. For those of you joining one of our holidays for the first time we hope our web site will answer most of your questions.

A guided tour is ideal for those who enjoy walking as part of a small, friendly multi-national group of like-minded people. Footpath Holiday's hotel-based guided tours also offer the comfort of good accommodation. All our guided tours are led by an experienced and knowledgeable leader.

For over a decade, we have been operating guided groups along many Long Distance Paths and National Trails.

Our 'Daypack Hikes' are guided tours based at one suitable location on, or adjacent to, the walking route. We provide transport to and from each day's stage. We also provide an experienced walk leader.

Every year Footpath organises tailor-made tours for clubs, groups, specialist agents and colleges. In the past these have ranged from club weekends on Dartmoor or in the Cotswolds to overseas hiking clubs wishing to spend a week or two in, for example, Cornwall, the Lake District, Exmoor, the Isle of Skye, or walking Wainwright's Coast to Coast.

Our single centre self-guided groups give guests the flexibility to choose their own holiday dates. For all of our self-guided groups there are two accommodation options:

  • Half board (bed, breakfast and evening meal)
  • Bed and breakfast accommodation

These longer tours often include an element of sightseeing, and ‘themed' tours (‘Architecture and Gardens', ‘Lakeland Poets', ‘Celtic History and Landscapes', to name but a few) can be arranged.

We are happy to organise walking/hiking tours of any length and we are not restricted to the areas which appear in this brochure. We always welcome the opportunity to quote for tailor-made packages of any grade, in any of Britain's walking areas.

Long Distance Paths and National Trails

For over a decade, we have been operating guided tours along many Long Distance Paths and National Trails. What distinguishes our groups is that we have eliminated the need for daily packing and moving on.

Daypack Hikes are guided tours based at one suitable location on, or adjacent to, the route.

Wonderful countryside is not exclusive to named Long Distance Paths and National Trails so we are also featuring a selection of great walks from three of England's most scenic areas; Exmoor , the Cotswolds , Central Lakeland and Reivers' Way .

Footpath Holidays provides transport from a prearranged meeting point to the start of each day's stage and transport back to that same point at the end of each stage. We also provide an experienced walk leader.
