Guided walking weekends from Footpath Holidays

Looking for a longer break?

If you would like a short walking break but don't want to walk alone, why not try one of our guided weekends in South West England. Enjoy not only superb countryside and convivial company but also the welcoming atmosphere of a country inn, quality ensuite accommodation, and good food prepared using fresh local produce.

Choose between guided walking weekends in West Wiltshire's Wylye Valley, The Deverills Valley and Stourhead, The Quantock Hills or Dartmoor.

Accommodation

We want you to enjoy the place you stay and the meals you eat as much as you enjoy the walking, so we put a great deal of time and effort into finding the best accommodation with the warmest of welcomes. All of the inns and country hotels which we use for our guided weekends offer comfortable well-appointed bedrooms with ensuite bathroom. You may find yourself staying in a centuries-old inn but you can still be confident that your room will have 21st century plumbing!

As well as ensuite facilities (private bathroom) you can expect your room to have direct dial telephone, television and tea and coffee making facilities. Some hotels have free wi-fi facilities, but you will probably be too busy walking, relaxing in the garden or enjoying the atmosphere in the restaurant to notice!

All of the accommodation used by Footpath Holidays is family-owned and run. The notable exception to this rule is the historic Spread Eagle at Stourton which is owned by the National Trust and liberally furnished from their wonderful collection of antiques.

Food

All of the inns and hotels which we use for our guided weekends have a great reputation for their food and pride themselves in serving regional specialities using locally-sourced ingredients. At the Spread Eagle in Stourton, for example, you will find yourself enjoying beef from the National Trust’s Stourhead estate, whilst Combe House Hotel in the Quantocks has its own organic vegetable garden, supplying fruit and vegetables for the restaurant.

For your evening meal you will be able to choose at least three courses plus coffee, from an exciting and varied menu with all food prepared and served to a high standard. At breakfast you will have a choice of a continental breakfast or ‘full English’.
