Discover the idyllic Cotswolds with an exciting Elderhostel programme of scenic walks and historical visits , 14-27 September 2009.

In September 2009 Elderhostel will, once again, be running their 'Heart of England: Cotswolds Villages and Landscapes' trip, based at Three Ways House Hotel in Mickleton and using walking guides, Group Leaders and expert speakers provided by Footpath Holidays. This thirteen night itinerary incorporates easy (up to five miles) guided walks through some of the Cotswolds' most scenic landscapes, visits to iconic villages and historic landmarks, and presentations by expert speakers who will help participants understand the history and culture of the region.

Vilages and sites visited include Chipping Campden, Broadway, the Slaughters, Burford, Bibury, Stow-on-the-Wold, Winchcombe, Stanway, Stanton, Snowshill, Painswick, Lacock, Castle Combe, Kelmscott Manor (home of the 19th century artist, William Morris), Sudeley Castle, Hidcote Manor Gardens, and Hailes Abbey.

For full details, prices and enrollment information visit Elderhostel's own website, or contact Footpath Holidays if you wish to know more about the itinerary content and the walking involved.

If you can't make September 2009 there will be further opportunities in late June and September 2010.

At the moment we have two special offers available; one being a 5% discount available on self-guided holidays at a selection of 'green' venues, and the other a gift of jewellery hand crafted from Cornish tin which applies to all holidays booked online during May and June 2009. Visit here to find out more.

Walk in the Cotswolds and visit Windsor, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and Bath, 27 June - 6 July 2009

At the end of June we are running a hiking trip in the Cotswolds which is in addition to our scheduled trips. This trip has been organised in collaboration with travel writer Greg Witt (author of the ‘Rough Guide to Adventure’) and is being marketed by Greg’s company ‘TheAdventure100’.

The trip starts on 27 June and finishes on 6 July. The first and last nights will be spent at a hotel which is situated just a short stroll from Windsor Castle and the other seven nights at Three Ways House Hotel (the home of the famous Pudding Club) in the Cotswolds. As well as some great hiking through quintessential English countryside, there will be opportunities to explore Windsor, Oxford, Bath and Straford-upon-Avon. The walks in the Cotswolds will visit some of the areas most iconic villages, including historic Chipping Campden, Bourton-on-the-Water, Broadway, Snowshill, the Slaughters, Winchcombe, Stanton, Stanway and idyllic Bibury; a village described by William Morris (the 19th century artist and father of the Arts and Crafts Movement) as "the most beautiful village in England".

Despite its 'Englishness' Three Ways House Hotel knows how to look after guests on Independence Day, so being away from home on the 4th July will not mean missing out on the celebrations!

There are still places available, so for more information either visit the TheAdventure100 website, or contact Footpath Holidays.

December 2009; Reduction in Value Added Tax (VAT)

As you may know, the British government recently announced a reduction in the rate of Value Added Tax; down from 17.5% to 15%. This reduction has been applied to all of our 2009 tours and the corrected prices appear throughout our website.

Our 2009 brochure was printed before the change in the rate of VAT was announced and we are not planning a reprint. It would be too costly and not good from an environmental point of view. Bookings which are made using the booking form from the brochure, rather than online via the website, will still benefit from the reduced rate of VAT, of course.

Guests who booked their 2009 holiday before the 1st December will be receiving an E.Mail or letter detailing the revised price.

"Words cannot express how much my sister and I enjoyed our recent walking holiday. Everything was so well done and the hotel was superb in every way."
