Self-guided Paths and Trails

Frequently Asked Questions

What information will be provided regarding the walking (hiking) route?

When we acknowledge your booking we will send you an outline itinerary of the walk stages which feature on your chosen route. Two weeks prior to commencement of the tour (or immediately if your booking is made at short notice) we will send you comprehensive information on your accommodation, details regarding the luggage transfer arrangements, and general information on the area which you will be visiting. If you live in the UK the information will be send by mail and will be accompanied by a pack containing the relevent maps and guidebook and a set of laminated route cards.  If you are travelling from abroad we will send you the same information by E.Mail (including the text of the route cards), but the laminated route cards, maps and guidebooks will be sent to the first hotel at which you will be staying.

The route cards will detail the relevant section of the guidebook for each day's walk, provide information regarding places of interest along the route (including opening times and entrance costs, if applicable), tell you where you can find refreshments, toilets and telephone boxes, and how to find your accommodation at the end of each day's walk. If your accommodation is more than 1km off-route it will also tell you where and at what time you will be picked up by your transport.
